Over my two-year term as
President, I had a strong and dedicated leadership team of BPD Board Members and Officers.
I must extend special thanks to my executive leadership team, composed of Virginia Cruz, Vice President, Stephen Anderson,
Secretary, and Debbie Simpler, Treasurer. This executive committee team stayed
focused on the mission of /BPD and made sound recommendations to the Board of Directors to improve the efficiency and effectiveness
of BPD operations.
BPD Board of Directors can
be very proud of the accomplishments noted below:
- Written, comprehensive fiscal policies to govern BPD operations
- Board of Directors Liability Insurance
- General Liability Insurance for BPD and the annual conference
- Written, comprehensive policies and procedures to govern committee operations and board liaison
functions
- Two-track professional development institute for experienced social work program directors and
prospective social work program directors
- Establishment of the first Outstanding Leadership and Achievement Awards for Undergraduate Social
Work Program Directors and others who have made significant contributions to undergraduate social work education (first awards
will be given at the 2005 conference)
- Establishment of Reserve Funds/Account for BPD
- Contracts with Lyceum to publish JBSW and UPDATE
- Contract with EBSCO
- Excellent annual conferences, under the leadership of Denise Montcalm. (2003 Conference/ Reno,

the Conference”. It was a tremendous success.
- Strategic Plan 2004-2006
